Default How to make your own remote gain knob cable.

So got a little bored so I made this for anyone who wants to make there own custom length or repair there cable for there remote gain knob. pretty much all remote wire used for gain knobs on amps and sound processors is cat5 cable.

Items needed.

RJ45 crimping tool.

RJ45 ends.

And cat5e cable

First cut your wire to desired length then strip about an inch of the outer layer off.

Then cut the string off.

then separate the wires and smooth them out.

Then line your wires side by side in this color order DO THIS FOR BOTH SIDES.

Orange white
Orange
Green white
Blue
Blue white
Green
Brown white
Brown

Now here is the fun part. when you have your wire lined well and in color order you want to trim away the accesses wire leave about a thumbs width from the outer sleeve. make sure that your wires are straight across when you trim.

Then you load your end onto your wire with the locking clip facing down slide it on and push the outer sleeve into the connector.

then while holding it, load it into your crimp-er, as you load it into your crimp-er you should look at the end of the connector you want to see all brass wire running across.

then crimp it and your done.

Ive messed with some cat9 i beleive when useing my LAN cables for my comp, maybe 7, hell i dont know. But you could just use splice in connectors down the line some, then do this fitting up top, i beleive it would work, i know rockford makes a remote that has 3 plug-ins on the back, but you have to run alot of wire.
