Ok guys I realize a some of you may have routers and like me don't have a jasper jig. I know they are only ~$40 but I have more time than money right now plus I really like to find solutions to problems so here we go.
$5 garage sale router
a coupla $.97 parts from Homey Depot
a scrap of tempered hardboard cut to the size of the router base
First attempt with a scrap of hardboard as the "adjustable pin holder" - NOT so good! Shallow cuts were ok, when it started getting deep the height of the 2nd piece of hardboard became apparent
Cuts from the failed attempt (this was a scrap to begin with as seen by the drill holes on the outside of the large ring)
2nd attempt with a scrap of strapping I had (much thinner than hardboard)
top view of 2nd attempt
Is this a replacement for a jasper jig? No
Will I get rich selling these on the internet? Highly doubt it
Was it a cool project and did it end up working? Yes
I will post pics of circles cut with the < $10 router circle cutter setup soon. I had a B-day party to go to and ran out of time but I started one and it was going well.
