The port is 11" long but I think that the port maybe too close to the sub, when the sub unload it can't build any pressure behind the sub:confused:
An 11" long port for a 4 cube box puts the tuning at 46 hz. Way too high for a daily driver.

And that number only gets worse if that box isn't 4.3 cubes after displacement.

And yes, that port end is too close to the subs.

Maybe Check your wiring. I had my last build sound like it was bottoming out and it turned out it had the + and - reversed. Sounded like shit until I noticed the wiring was incorrect.

x2 Sounds like you're out of phase... That will do it

-Terminals on the subs could be swapped
- Wiring at the amp is backwards if you have dual speaker inputs (IDK about DC amps)
- Subs not seeing equal amounts of airspace

Stick a multimeter on subs and amp and see if your ohm loads come out correct

The enclosure measurement are (L) 35 x (w) 24x (h) x 12.5 with a 8" aero port 11"?
That's 4.79 cubes before sub and port displacemt. So it's probally less then 4.3 after all displacments.

External dimensions?

That's 4.8 cubes.

Subs are going to displace .4. Port is another .32.

That's 4.1 cubes net. So I was pretty spot on with the tuning guess.

Box is tuned too high, facing into the cabin and the port end is too close to the subs.

Easiest option would be to use the same box, but fire the port towards the driver or passenger side. That way you can make it longer to drop the tuning and get it away from the sub motors.

Even easier would be to turn the box around so the port faces the rear. That should help at least for right now. I'd recommend building a new box.

new box. who ever built u that box fawked u over hard

i would personally pull the subs out. pull box out. pull the aero port out and plug the hole up then build a slot port inside. the same port area as a single 8" aero. but 29.5 inches long. bring ur box down to 3.5 cubes net and around 33-34hz tuning

Lots of good information in here, I agree with what being said. The box 1 is to big. ive had the best luck with them in 1.5 each net. Also that 46hz tuning is also a big issue. You need a new box, Go smaller and tune lower, Try something 35ish . I would also change the orientation of the set up. Just for testing rear fire the subs and port. Im sure after making the correct changes to your set it will will sound a lot better.

As far as I know DC AUDIO sub's have stiff spiders with a lot of motor force and a tight gap, they supposed to work greatly in small boxes tuned in the mid 30's perhaps 34-36hz, you won't miss the LOWS with that kinda high tuning but you would gain in high notes and down low as well, this low Qts and high Fs sub's like higher tuning, if you tune low you would have a bump around the tunning but with big cut off (higher than tuning) and roll off (lower than tuning),

Good Luck,

Kindest Regards.

The level 5 has very stiff suspension. Did you break them in to stretch the spiders?? I have 4 lvl 5 15s each on its own 5 k and i love them.i break them in by playing 20hz for at least 3 days. If you didn't break them in a just put the meat to them right out of the box then with your box being off it probably lost cone control and ripped the spiders. We have spend hundreds of hours testing and tuning to get things right.once you find the sweet spot that your car and your woofies both like then you will be very happy.dc ftw

I really haven't played them LOUD yet because of how it sounded and neighbors. going to lift some weights and get them out the box today ( they should be called back breakers) lol
