4th order boxes ~ design help

I do realize I have already asked ltr450racer690 (copy and paste ftw) about these boxes, but I still have some questions and figured I might as well get a wider response than just from one person (im not hating bro, i just wanna learn some more and don't wanna bother you so much, cus I feel I have already)
im building a large 4th order for 8 10s, drivers in question that will be loaded are GRS 10s (poly cone, rubber surround) space constraints are 48 x 46 x 24 (cant remember which direction was the longer part, i'll double check this before I start designing something, or if you happen to own a 97 expo and know the back well and wouldnt mind helping, do tell me which one it is, lol)
I would much rather the box not be taller than 12" that way I can build the second one when he wants to pay me for 8 more 10s. (this man is foolish with his money, so im working with the ability of him doing this, and the reason I wouldnt just say 16 10s in a 4th order would be because I dont really know these woofers that well, granted the additional airspace -might- help my numbers, I just dont know, so someone who could clear that up for me could be very useful for this build later down the road.

Also, how do I tune a 4th order? I wanna do some cool notes up and down the 30 to 50hz area, which is currently lacking on my big-ass-wtf room stereo, this box will eventually be sold to my friend Jeremiah who wants it for his Expo, he says he'll have enough cash to buy it off me in 3 months, by then i'll have found better woofers for this box (im thinking PowerBass XLs) and I just want to get loud & low.

80inches is the man to ask about this...He's designed quite a few guys on here (including mine).

hes done one for me in the past as well would defnately recommend 80 if is a bandpass 80's the man hands down
why not use the box i design, it will work fine
Lets see the design kyle made.
well im decent at sketchup so here something i thought up and should work nicely, keeping it basic for him so its easy to build will still play well, tuned to 46hz

What's the specs?
sealed is 1.83 a side

ported is 7.49 tuned to 46 after disp
I decided that I will use Ltr450racer690s design, im going to build it in the next few days.

so im curious, should this do anything interesting with the GRS's?
Iirc those GRS doesn't have a very low freq response so I don't think they will play very low unless I am wrong. Definatley let me know how they do. Those drivers are so damn cheap.

EDIT* They have a freq response of 35-3000. Power handling of 80 rms ftl. Lol
I had one in my 7ft tall tube o' death, and it was dropping pretty decently.

and they take a bit over 80rms without problems, killed one freeaired at 200 watts though, didnt kill the coil, it just ****ed the former up and it rubbed baaad after that (tight gap)
but fridaay 4 sure!
Whats the port area and tuning?
A 1:2 ratio isn't too bad, should play pretty low with that tuning.
I believe he stated its tuned to 46hz a page before.

I personally like using 196sqin ports but im not sure if that would work with his design (im a noob when it comes to bandpass)

any idea how many deebeez I might be able to hit with this thing strapped to a 1,000 watt rms amp?? (its going in an expo)

130+/- 50db would be my guess. Seriously, nobody can predict what any given setup will do in any given car. At least not without tons of experience with the vehicle. Something like a crx or a car that is very widely used for SPL stuff would make life easier, but I don't think many people use Expo's for SPL.

As for your port area idea, that's a huge port for that box. You could easily get away with 120 sq inches.
I know that was a noobish post lol im sorry

hmmm... now I just wonder if I could get this whole thing built on friday in fort wayne before I go down to dayton. I wont be competing though (total noob + not qualified + my woofers suck)
There's the $80 triple point event, but even then, I wouldn't waste my money if I were you. I've been competing all year, and getting kicked in the teeth after thousands of dollars in entry and travel fees, I'm sick of the bullshit with dbdrag. It's a lost cause. If you just want to see how loud it is, wait till a show in Indianapolis (they're the last week of every month, IIRC) and find out there. Much cheaper/easier...
i have lost the design on my old computer. but there is plenty of port for the size of the ported chamber, should be around 110-140 most likely

is there one going on this month???

@ ltr450racer690
if I do build this, (which I probably will at this point)
how can I figure length for my port? is it calc'd the same way as a ported box? *total noob at bandpass*

Port length calculations are the same no matter the type of enclosure.

As for the comp in Indy, it should be the week after Finals in Dayton, if not the 2nd week after Finals. I can't remember. Check the ESP section. Greg has all his events listed in their own separate threads.
