Ohio generators or DC power Inc.
Looking for a new alternator. Who are the better manufacturers? Been looking all over the net and there is a huge difference in prices. Any opinions??:dontknow:
dc power
thanks for the info guys!
dcpower & mechman are good and if your on a budget check out powerbastards
I agree with DC Power. Check out their site at dcpowerinc.com You can look at the different alts and see what they're rated at at peak, idle and when they're warm. Very useful information and they'll get back in touch with you super quick if you contact them.
the ohio generator site is under construction.. and the dc site lists 6 alternators for my application; a 98 explorer with a 4.0 sohc. their price is $489 a 250 amp alternator; which is the size i'm looking for. are they worth the money? i've noticed they have a 2 year warranty where a lot of manufacturers only have a 1 year

well i would get the 270 xp they are the best but u wont go wrong with anything from dc
Call DC and discuss your set up with them, best way to make sure you get the right alt.

I've been VERY happy with my DC alts and will be ordering a 3rd one very soon...
are there any others i should look at?
Nathan at excessive amperage has been nothing except a pleasure to deal with. Placed the order on Monday, and it should be here Monday. Not a shabby turn around.

I ordered other things the same day that haven't even shipped yet, but Nathan managed to build AND ship my alternator in the same time.
i like the prices of the db electrical units.. hows the quality? anybody use one of their units?
I checked a total of 3-4 places before ordering. Nathan had the best price easily on what I needed. DC was $40 shy of being double the price and 1 of them only replied back with a "We don't do that".

An alternator company that doesn't do alternators? I didn't have a complicated request. Simply as much power as I can get (right about 170a) while keeping it a direct bolt on.
couldn't find any prices or specs on the excessive site. going to call them tomorrow
Mechman is pretty good. Check the subforum on here to get a quote.
i just ordered a 280Pro from DCpower for my 95 tbird, it will be a bolt up, plug and play instal. cost $420 shipped.
i had researched all of the companies listed above and DC just seemed the better choice. Also if i decide to upgrade to the XP model will swap it out for the difference, even after i use it. They claim to have hardly any of thier units returned due to being burnt up.
Ask around about Mike Singers alts. Pm me if you're interested in one.
excessive amperage has a 250 amp for $420 shipped and a 300 amp for $490 shipped.
mechman has a 270 amp with the adjustable voltage boost module for $449. the dc powers seem overpriced; and i've read of some problems with them lately so i'm not going to look into them
