They only do it once you reach a certain level of volume? If thats the case it sounds like your gain may be set too high. Or you're getting severe voltage drop, from a bad ground.

What does it mean when I turn up the volume up on my mid range and highs they play real loud then the cut down sounding muffled..Idk
