get the spiders that fit your basket. the larger the diameter, the more stroke they will be capable of.
eg: 9" spider on a 3" coil is good for about 1.5" travel each direction.

gasket and tinsel lead are the only things on the list you missed
spring clamps for holding things would be nice too
ive been looking for a good motor on here to build a good little 10''
Pierce Audio Products sells softparts to the public. Nice quality too IMO. They may also be able to hook you up with basket.

Look for the rubberized CA glue at hobylinc.com (personally I like to use the spray activator with it). Amazing goop brand glue works well for surround to basket and dustcap to cone (also to reinforce the tripple joint).

For shims I use cards. PPL use index cards, or I've even used strips cut from manila envelopes....use whatever as long as you can get it snug and evenly laid in around the pole piece.

Robot Undergound sells some hard to find parts depending what you need and has some really nice terminals (similar to push terminals but they screw tight...I like them a lot).

Spiders you'll use will depend on the basket. I believe someone around here has a Shocker Neo-Sig motor. Start with that:)

Unfortunately you really don't know what the sub you build will do until you build it so IMO if you're just going to frankenstein a sub together don't stress too much what kind of suspension, cone, coil, etc. you use. Use enough spiders to handle the power you need to throw at it (unless you're doing extreme burps I'd say 2 is as many as you'd want). Make sure you figure out what the precise specs of your motor are so you can plan a coil that will fit properly.

I've found some great softparts on forums, grab what looks good and have fun with it.

US AMPS 50HC
US AMPS VL400
US AMPS VLX400
Shocker Mike has SIG motors FS and also softparts. Sadly you'd need to build a mounting ring to mount since the motors are a little over 10" across.

My advice is stick to standard type baskets and 3" coil motors (nothing too out of the ordinary)....will give you a lot more options when it comes to coming up with softparts.
i was just going through the speaker parts thread looking for motors. theres a few good choices to choose from. if anyone got a motor for sale post link so i can check it out.

whats every ones thoughts on the dc lv4 motors would that be a good build for a beefy 10''

Nice motor and should have a big enough gap to accept a big ass coil (also I believe DC will sell just coils).
Pierce Audio Products sells the wmd2 motor alone for a reasonable cost. You could always go with different soft parts than what they make for them.
