I'm seriously considering a single HDC418-D1-A.

However, I intend to put it in a sealed box of no more than 5 cu. feet.

All the dimensions for suggested speaker boxes on your site are for ported boxes.

Will a single HDC418-D1-A perform well in a sealed box?

My goals are maximum sound quality and response and super-low lows.

I will be powering this sub with a Kicker zx1500.1 amplifier - doing at least 1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms.

Please let me know if this sub, in an up-firing sealed box, is a good match for this amp.

For that sub in sealed, I would definetly want wayyy more power, especially in sealed. Maybe 2 of those amps.

ok, well, keep in mind it's a small car, and i just want something to outperform (lower, louder, cleaner) the two alpine type-r's i have in there right now.

thanks for the response. (and tell me that's not a wicked tune to roll with?)

subs that are not meant or designed to be used in sealed applications will suffer and fail over time
get a woofer more suited for sealed box if you must insist..

It would be a waste to run a HDC4 in a sealed box.. it would work but kind or pointless. U'll need to run alot more than 1500rms to that sub in a smaller sealed box and it wont play very low.
And i didnt hear anything cool at all about that song! lol.

Most importantly, you'll loose your main goal. Super low notes. There are plenty of other sub(s) you can run sealed that do better. You might even be able to have enough room for a ported box so you can get the lows you want.

What kind of car?

The suspension is too stiff for a sealed box. Go to a 5 net cube vented box with 60 sq" of port opening area 28" in length and you will get all the sq and lows you want.
