Series/parallel wiring

When you wire subs up this way, isn't it only using half of the voice coil? Does doing this significantly diminish the output of the setup?

No you're using all of the coils.

If you sire series parallel you have 2 subs, say d4's, and you wire each one to 8 ohm in series, then you wire the two remaining sets of 8 ohm leads in parallel to 4 ohm.
Ah ok, thanks.... I just didn't think I would be because of the jumper cable between the second set of terminals not being connected to anything else. Thanks for the help.

They all get used because you're connecting the circuit from the two opposite coils.
Ah... yeah I thought that since the second wire wasn't physically connected to the first two that that side of the coil was not in use. Thanks!
