i think uts a ssmall fuse in the headunit that goes to the rcas an if you take the rcas out when the hu is on(hotswap) it will blow it an u get ground noise through the RCAs an you have to wrap a bare wire round the rca end an ground it to the radio chassis to get it to stop
^Correct. Actually had to do this on a friends Pioneer after he pulled it from his car before trading it in.

yep this is true. thats the easiest fix but you can also take the whole HU apart and put a drop of solder on the fuse itself for a permanent fix.

The pico fuse is right below the exclamation point. Its there to protect the electronics in the head unit from and voltage spikes that may come back through the line.

To fix mine I soldered a wire across the RCA grounds and the other side of the wire to a ground point in the chassis. Then fed the wires outside the head unit to a fuse holder.

is the noise only noticable at high volume??...ive got a hiss at high volume but u cant hear it unless i pause or mute the song while its playing...at lower volume, when the h/u is paused or muted, theres no hiss
When my fuse blew I couldn't even listen to the stereo. To test the head unit if the fuse is blown take a multimeter unplug all rcas set it to continuity test and touch one probe to the outer rcas connector and the other to the chassis. If it beeps the the fuse is good if not the the fuse is blown.
sounds like your gains are set too high....

Pico fuse issue will be there at ALL volumes

what size fuse did u use?

i dont have my gains set high at all so maybe i dont have that pico fuse issue...lol

.5 amp fuse.

ok now i know wat it is. i had the same issue with a few pioneers myself that shot engine noise thru the system. and if i kept em i jus broke the unit down and did a gnd from frame to rca on the board and that was the end of it.
how do i know FOR A FACT that i blew the pico fuse??...i was just playing my system and i noticed that one of the terminal bolts on my box had touched the case of my dsc450...it made a HORRIBLE screeching noise...unplugged rca on highs amps and it dissappeared...plugged them back in and theres the hissing
open it up and look
