are you from the nokturnal carclub/ expensive taste?
higher the strand count = less resistance and more flexibility...go with the highest strand count you can find

Something like this would be good...665 strand count --> Robot MarketPlace - 8 gauge high-strand count wire - Red

This would also be good...same strand count, OFC copper --> http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6483-spw18t-stinger-pro-8-gauge-premium-power-cable.aspx

This one appears to be the best...805 strand count, OFC copper --> Knukonceptz product detail for KARMA SS 8 GAUGE SPEAKER WIRE

thanks!!!!!
thanks!!!!!
No problem! :hello: That Knu-Karma looks nice, but $1.65/ft  I would go with the Stinger Pro for $0.65/ft
Isnt eight gauge god awful to try to push into your terminals. In my opinion id go with 10 gauge or 12 gauge. There is no reason to have to use that thick of wire cause it will only be a huge pain in the ass. Unless you have an adapter for your sub to handle the eight gauge then i guess it would be just fine.

What if his subs have direct 8awg leads? :dontknow: Some banana plugs also accept 8ga conductors so you could go that route as well.

im currently getting my subs rebuilt and putting on direct leads to put the 8gage.. the terminals being too small crossed my mind. thanks for the insite!

do you know what the strand count on the stinger is???

FYI that stinger is power cable. As in it doesn't have 2 seperate connections but its 665 strands

yes i know this but im doing spl and i need the least resistance that i can get... power wire or speaker wire its ok with me as long as its 8g high strand

It's not as tough as some may think. Have you ever ran 4-5k to a woofer? I don't know about you but I'd rather not have that kind of power going through 10 or 12 gauge wire. He's on the right track and from what I understand, running bigger wire also helps to keep down on impedance rise if it's a problem.

OP, if it were me and I had the cash, I'd go with the Knu but to be honest I don't think it'll make that much of a difference as long as you use true 8ga wire. In two competition cars we had this year that won at finals in mod 0-1000 and trunk 1001+, neither of them had special, expensive, high strand count wire. It was some cheap wire that appeared to be true 8ga and it worked just fine. Unless you just want to say you have this many strands in your 8ga then I think just about anything will work on your setup. It's up to you though man, if you got the cash, go for it!

Yeah that doesn't matter at all...copper is copper. It is single strand, but I'd imagine it would work out better for him in this instance since he is going to be tapping on to direct leads. They will both work identically as a conductor.
Yeah, I know it doesn't matter. I use 8 gauge stinger HPM speaker wire for my subs but I just wanted to point tha out in case he was looking for "speaker" wire. I know some people are picky and want both strands together.

Strand count is important. Higher the strand count = less resistance so in turn, better conductivity. It is the same thing as doing certain things throughout the rest of the build to gain every little bit you can i.e. suretape, resin, deadener, OFC cable, etc, etc, etc. As a competitor, would you agree with this now that it is put in that perspective? I am not trying to be combatant, more or less help OP understand that he is on the right track with looking for a high strand count 8awg conductor.

Ahh I gotcha...good call. I can see it now, he orders a certain amount and then realizes it is only a single conductor and has to go back and order more because we didn't clarify
its better to hav fits because if the wire that ur using dont fit it may come out
thanks guys!!! yes im running a americanbass 200.1 to each 15' at 1/4 ohm.. so i need good wire.. i already have cheap q-power 8g now but my teamate said it would be better to go with a high strand 8g to help me out.. im a competitor and we buts our chops looking for that extra tenth...
Where can i find this stinger wire? Looked on there website but couldn't find a way to order.
