How wide do the guys that use 45's in your boxes make them and how do I calculate how much volume they displace?

What you are doing is just square feet, you need volume, you are missing thickness.

if you want to be completely accurate, the shape is a trapezoid after you are finish cutting into the shape, use this calculator (basically search up area of trapezoid on google)

https://www.google.com/search?sourc...e=UTF-8&q=area of a trapezoid&oq=area of a trap&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.3528j0j7

plug your measurements in then multiply by the length of the 45 and times 4 then divide by 1728
for example a 3 inch by 20.5 peice, in the calculator A would be around 2 after cuts to fit the corners, B would be 3, H would be thickness of mdf so 0.75 then times by the length which is 20.5

If the space inside is completely blocked off then it will be more like a triangle as someone else specified.

45s are supposed to be waveguides but work better for bracing the enclosure. 45s and bracing great if you have already accounted the room for excess bracing when you've planned your enclosure. If you are tight on space and have not set aside extra cubic feet for bracing displacement, then adding too much bracing and 45s can raise your tuning and you might not get the sound you are going for with your specified tuning.
