So im looking to pick one up will be wired to .5-6 rising to .8-.9

But the real question has any one actually clamped on ive seen mixed results 5200 @ ohm some say 5900 @ 1 others say 7 k? Any input ??

Also whats the high volt cap on then before they protect and low volt cap ??

i asked tfade 2 aq 3500.1 vs m4a and he said
Hmm... that's an interesting decision. The M4a is a beast. I run one daily, but not nearly to it's potential since I'm on OEM electrical. I decided to clamp it the other day just for fun. RIGHT before it low voltage protected in the mid 9v region, I got 4k rising to 3ohms. Like, I said... at around 9.5v. That's pretty retarded.

I'm a huge fan of both companies' amps. And to be honest, the AQ's might have the edge in power. Eficiency will be similar. I think it will boil down to whether you need or want a single amp solution or if you want to bother with strapping, the real estate (2) large amps will take up and all of the associated wiring that comes with the quad 1/0 inputs of the pair of AQ's.

If you held a gun to my head and made me decide on the spot, I'd probably stick with the M4a. Mainly because I'm lazy and a single amp is easier.

Keep us posted on that. I'm curious.
i want one but idk if dd is going to bring out a new model like the m2b m3b maybe there is going to be m4b???

We have only clamped @ .5 with rise to 1.8 11.5v and got 5800 out of one......8-9k is to be expected with rise to .8-.9 on a burp......DD says they can do a peak burp of 10k when voltage and amperage is there but they can draw over 1000 amps. Very powerful for the small footprint and I dont think they have any ideas of making a m4b since the m4a is damn near bullet proof and small enough lol

I have two and clamped the pair strapped at about 9000 watts @1.26 ohms on a burp. This is a 12 v system starting at 14.5 and it dropped to about 11.5 on that burp before it went into protect from being under 2 ohms strapped.

On a single unit I only clamped about 4500 watts, but that was wired at 1 ohm and rising to
1.8 ohms.

I would say they will do the 5600 watts rated if you can get your imp rise down enough to get 1 ohm and if you have some JUICE. I have a 220 amp mech man alt, Odessy pc 1500 and two odessy pc 1800 (220 amp hour batts) and the pair of m4a's will still knock my electrical down to 12 volts.

The big numbers you hear like 7-9k are from guys in europe running them on burps only, usually higher voltage, over 15v (amp has to modified to bypass protection) and they are wiring them down to .5 or .75 ohms and have a LARGE bank of batts. That is what Kevin Doyle @ DD told me anyway.

in my daily car with 2 amps at 0.5 ohm , rise to 1.5 ohm i got 10kw , was on 3 12v batts , didnt messure voltagedrop , with 1 amp at 0.25 on 2 12v batts i got 6kw before it protected at 0.75 ohm after rise

I will also say these are pretty well built amps. I was able to make one die from running it full tilt all day when it was 100 plus degrees outside and I did several 3 minute music runs at a comp and it had already shut down once from being too hot...but I kept on pushing it anyway and after the comp was over and after I turn my car off it puffed out smoke. I was pretty impressed that it held up as long as it did given the hot day, long music runs, and the fact I never let it cool down.

To the OP, if you talk to DD/AQ, they will tell you that the m4a is very similar to two aq 3500's power wise but in one chassis. The AQ's are hard to beat for the price and they are very reliable. The m4a's tend to get "pushed" harder because of the expectations people have for them.
