Haha he had it at $120 for a while then $60

Ad says he got a new system and wants to sell or trade this gear.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work but I'm going to test it

$60 obo seems way too low

Waiting on his reply. He said there is too much traffic right now but he is willing to meet half way.

Will keep you guys updated!

If this Nakamichi amp is still available I would buy it... Its 100% a ZED amp and very under rated. This amp is in the same class as the best ZED amps he has ever made such as ESX. It uses top grade materials for resistors caps and transistor op-amps , torode. Its a serious quality amp with great power. Its 100 x 2 at 4 ohms with 0.09 THD so what that really means is double at 1%thd which is how amps are set up gain wise in cars. It can easily do 200 x 2 at 2ohm stereo and 400 4 ohm mono... thats just rated with 12v

Its a regulated power supply so it will do rated at 10.5v but will not increase watts at 14.4. It stays steady as voltage swings...

Zed stated once that these are one of the most technologically advanced amps similar to his holy grail ESX.

There is some confusion about rated power as NAK produced a china version a few years after zed stopped building NAK amps that had the same model number PA1002 BUT this amp was actually 50x2 and 200x1 mono flat out. This silver amp and the black pa1002 are in no way related.

I own NAK PA1002 silver and a PA504 multi channel and these are pure SQ but made great clean power that can stand up to anything you put them through...

Zed HAS been quoted saying the silver PA1002 that he built will do 525 x1 at 4 ohms with the right volts/current...

Also its important to know that there is lots of thermo and short circuit protection, dc speaker out, high and low volt protect , clip protect among other fail safes. This am has lots of good tech. Crossover boards are also very well built as is the preamp section with very high S/N and low cross talk and separation.

These amps were the choice of many IASCA SQ cars and builders as they were the best sounding and power houses and very under rated to get into the IASCA classes with ease. Its not an amp that will do min wattage at 12v then quadruple at 14.4 volts. So ZED made the amp super THD FREE to get low wattage output at 12v.

***be advised there is not fuse on the amp so fuse close to the amp.

just cause its a SQL doesn’t mean it can push serious knock the trunk of your Neon BUBBLE with 28” dayton wire wheels..

Thank you for all the info. I am out of thanks currently.

Upon further inspection, it appears that the amp I am looking into getting is actually the silver top, but has black sides, so it should be good?

You confused me a little with the wattage breakdown. It's rated for 50x2 but what will it actually put out? Should I check the guts before I buy?

Guy responded finally. Says he's going that way and wants to know if I'm still interested. Gonna do it. Any tests I should run?

I assure you that if its the silver PA1002 with the bulge arch in the middle of the heatsink then its 100x2 @ 4ohms and double at 2ohms... There is some confusion about this model # as there is a chinese built black PA1002 thats 50x2 and a USA made by ZED version with same model name PA1002 that produces double what the overseas model does.. The link you posted for the F/S amp has the wrong specs but is the ZED made amp and superior quality IMHO

I own 2 of them as well as PA504 4 channel with same heatsink also made by ZED. These amps rank only behind the ESX ZED made amps for purE SQ as quoted by ZED...and many others. There was a loyal following of these amps in the IASCA SQ days when these amps were produced..

I personally love the sound and build quality and feel there is very few amps in this category that are obtainable at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna trade my pioneer gm-a5602 for it for sure then.

I have a lexus stereo out of a 2000 lx470 right thats made nakamichi.... So they mist have built recievers for longer than late 80's to mid 90's its on ebay right now and has watchers.
Are they the really stock looking units with a nakamichi badge? Are the internals super high end or something?

Nakamichi went defunct pretty much right around 2000. It was acquired by a Chinese company and is now producing new equipment. I was about to jump on a HU several months ago, but did research and it's nowhere near the same standards as the early 90's stuff.

Early stuff is nice. Used an older Nak amp about a decade ago when I was in high school. I enjoyed it. I should not have sold it for so cheap, but that was before I knew about the interwebz car audio community.

Dude that is what happened with almost all car audio companies.

It's really sad.

I really want to know how\why it happened.
